Am I a Candidate for Dental Implants?
If you are missing one or more teeth, our MINT dentists may recommend an implant along with a crown, bridge, or denture. You may be an ideal candidate for dental implants if you already have a traditional restoration but are unhappy with the way it looks or feels. During your consultation at MINT dentistry, a board-certified dentist will examine your jawbone and gums to determine if a dental implant will help you achieve your goal smile. You may not be a candidate for dental implants if you have a periodontal condition, use tobacco, or are currently pregnant.
How Are Dental Implants Placed?
Before scheduling your appointment for your dental implant placement, your MINT dentistry team will first determine if you require jawbone or gum augmentation. If it is determined that you do, those procedures will be completed beforehand. Once you are ready for implants, our team will schedule your oral surgery to place the implant post(s). To begin your implant surgery, your team will help you to fully relax in one of our massaging treatment chairs where we will give you Beats headphones and MINT sunglasses. When you are ready, your anesthesia or sedation will be administered. Then, the oral surgeon will make an incision(s) in your mouth and fit the metal post(s) into the bone. We will repeat this process until all implants are in place. The gums will then be closed around the implant, leaving the post visible above the gumline. During the next several months, your implant(s) will start to integrate with your gums and jawbone and a temporary restoration will be used to protect the implant(s). As soon as you're healed, our Morrow, GA team will connect your custom restoration to the post(s) so you can start smiling, eating, and speaking like normal.
Dental Implant Surgery Aftercare
Some inflammation in your gums and bruising, discomfort, and bleeding is normal directly following your surgery. These symptoms are usually mild to moderate and temporary, but severe or prolonged symptoms should be reported to our office. We may prescribe pain medications and antibiotics and give detailed instructions, like what activities to avoid, so your recovery is smooth. Once your implant(s) has integrated and your crown, bridge, or denture has been connected, you need to follow a good dental care routine at home, including flossing and brushing every day. Follow-up appointments to check your progress will be scheduled. MINT dentistry encourages you to keep scheduling appointments twice a year for professional cleanings so that we can help you keep your restorations gorgeous for a long time.
The MINT Commitment
Some of the cost of your implant placement and custom restoration is likely to be covered by dental insurance if you have it.
